ABOUT
=====
"In Our Midst" is a short point'n'click adventure game paying homage to a
certain popular multiplayer game. You play an alien being that has infiltrated
a space ship, disguising itself as one of the crew members. You now have to
eliminate the remaining crew so that you can seize control of the ship.

The game was created using the free Adventure Game Studio program
(https://adventuregamestudio.co.uk). Originally it was designed as an entry for
the September 2022 Monthly Adventure Game Studio (MAGS) competition. The
competition theme was "Sometimes Evil Wins" by lapsking and entries had to be
created from scratch in one month. While most of the puzzles were designed and
about half of the artwork was completed, time pressures led to the game being
put on hold with the intention of finishing it later outside of the competition
deadline. Nothing further was done on the game until MAGS April 2024 when the
first version of the game was released following another month of work under
the "Finish your MAGS game" theme, going on to win the competition.

This build of the game is a slightly more polished version of the original MAGS
entry, fixing a couple of bugs and adding some minor tweaks and improvements to
the game.

If you would like to play more adventure games check out the Adventure Game
Studio website. If you want to play more of my games visit my website at

I hope you enjoy the game!

HOW TO PLAY
===========
Use winsetup.exe to configure graphics and sound options. If you are having
problems running the game try changing these settings.

The game is intended to be played with a mouse, but only requires a single
button so should also work on touch-screens. Left click (or tap) on an object
to use it. Collected items are added to your inventory - click the backpack
in the top-left of the screen to show or hide your items. Click an item to
equip it. With an item equipped you can use it on objects or other items, or
place it back in the inventory by clicking on the backpack icon.

Once in game the options can be brought up using the Options 'cog' button in
the top-right of the screen. You can use this to change the volume and to save
or load your game.

The game is designed to be played natively on Windows, however it can be run on
other platforms (or Windows) using the ScummVM program
(https://www.scummvm.org).
